This week, I fell a little behind in some of the discussion boards because my sister had her second baby. I didn't realize how hard it would be to balance school, work, and taking care of my two-year-old niece while my sister was at the hospital. Despite this, I was able to complete some of the other assignments and the readings. It was good to learn about the different options for site design and taking payments online. I researched a lot and found that if I were going to do a direct-to-consumer e-commerce business, I would use Shopify and their payment processing system. If I had a brick-and-mortar store and needed to take card payments in person, I would most likely use Square. It was insightful to learn about the different options out there and what would be best for different types of businesses. I'm starting a creative service-based business, so my payment processor may look a little different than the options I listed above. I'm not 100% sure which one I will choose yet for my site, but I don't think it will be PayPal. I want to be legally legit and don't want my customers to be able to dispute payments on PayPal. I've seen this happen a few times for those that use PayPal and I want to protect against this happening with my business. Overall, it was a long but insightful week. I'm excited to start building my site next week.
